TZOKER Glossary

Authoritative definitions for every TZOKER and lottery term — jackpot, column, hot/cold numbers, hypergeometric odds, prize tiers and rollover.

B — Terms starting with B

Bonus Ball (Tzoker number)

The single number drawn from the 1–20 Tzoker pool, separately from the five main numbers. Required for the jackpot and for the bonus tiers (5+1, 4+1, 3+1, 2+1, 1+1, 0+1).

C — Terms starting with C

Cold Number

A number that has been drawn fewer times than the average over the selected timeframe. Cold numbers are a historical statistic — they do not become more (or less) likely to be drawn next.

Column (Single 5+1 set)

One playable combination of 5 main numbers plus 1 Tzoker. The minimum priced unit on a TZOKER ticket. Cost: €0.50 per column. Minimum playable ticket is 2 columns (€1.00).

Combinatorial / Wheel System

A betting structure that picks more than 5 main numbers and/or more than 1 Tzoker, generating every possible 5+1 combination. Cost = C(main, 5) × tzoker_count × €0.50.

D — Terms starting with D

Draw

The official OPAP event where the winning 5 main numbers and the Tzoker are randomly selected. TZOKER draws happen Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 22:00 Athens time.

Draw ID

OPAP's incrementing identifier for each TZOKER draw. Used internally by tzoker.app to link draw results to their statistics and prize-tier breakdowns.

E — Terms starting with E

Expected Value (EV)

The average payout per €1 staked over an infinite number of plays. For TZOKER it is well below €1 — the game's prize pool is set by regulation as a fixed percentage of sales (the rest funds operator profit, taxes and good causes).

F — Terms starting with F

Fixed Prize

A prize tier that pays a constant amount regardless of how many winners share it. In TZOKER the only fixed prize is tier 9 (0 main + 1 Tzoker), which pays €1.00 per winning column.

Frequency

The number of times a specific main number (1–45) or Tzoker (1–20) has been drawn in a given timeframe (1 month, 3 months, 1 year, 5 years, all-time, etc.).

G — Terms starting with G

Gambler's Fallacy

The mistaken belief that past random outcomes affect future ones — for example, that a number which hasn't appeared recently is 'due'. Each TZOKER draw is independent; previous results carry no information about the next one.

H — Terms starting with H

Hot Number

A number that has been drawn more times than the average over the selected timeframe. Like cold numbers, hotness is descriptive of past data and has no predictive power on a fair lottery.

Hypergeometric Distribution

The probability distribution that describes the chance of drawing exactly k matches from a fixed pool without replacement. TZOKER odds are computed as P(k main matches) × P(Tzoker match or not) — see the Odds Explained guide.

J — Terms starting with J

Jackpot (Tier 1 / 5+1)

The top prize, awarded for matching all 5 main numbers and the Tzoker. The TZOKER jackpot is a guaranteed minimum of €1,000,000 and rolls over until won. Odds: 1 in 24,435,180 per column.

M — Terms starting with M

Main Numbers

The pool of integers 1 to 45 from which 5 winning numbers are drawn at each TZOKER draw, separately from the Tzoker number.

Minimum Guaranteed Jackpot

The smallest jackpot OPAP guarantees for the next TZOKER draw, currently €1,000,000. If the previous draw's pool exceeds this, the larger amount is published instead.

O — Terms starting with O

Odds

The likelihood of an event, usually expressed as 'X in Y' (e.g. 1 in 24,435,180 for the TZOKER jackpot). Odds describe the chance per single column played, not per ticket.

OPAP (ΟΠΑΠ Α.Ε.)

OPAP S.A. — Greece's regulated lottery and sports-betting operator. Holds the exclusive licence to organise TZOKER, JOKER, LOTTO, KINO, PROTO and other games in Greece and Cyprus.

P — Terms starting with P

Pari-Mutuel (Mutual prize pool)

A payout method where the prize pool of a tier is split equally between all winners of that tier. In TZOKER, tiers 1–8 are pari-mutuel; only tier 9 is fixed.

Prize Pool

The total amount returned to players from each TZOKER draw, set by regulation as a fixed percentage of total sales for that draw. The pool is then split across the 9 prize tiers by formula.

Prize Tier (Category)

One of the 9 winning combinations in TZOKER, ranging from tier 1 (5 + 1 Tzoker, jackpot) to tier 9 (0 + 1 Tzoker, fixed €1.00). Each tier has its own probability and payout type.

Q — Terms starting with Q

Quick Pick (Random selection)

An automatically generated random ticket. On tzoker.app, the Quick Pick button uses a uniform random algorithm that picks 5 main numbers from 1–45 and 1 Tzoker from 1–20.

R — Terms starting with R

Rollover

When a TZOKER draw produces no jackpot winner, the unwon pool is added to the next draw's jackpot. Multiple consecutive rollovers can grow the jackpot to tens of millions of euros.

S — Terms starting with S

Syndicate (Group play)

A group of players who pool money to buy more columns than each could alone. Syndicates do not change the per-column odds, but they raise the chance the group will win at least something — at the cost of splitting any prize.

T — Terms starting with T

Ticket (Slip)

The physical or online receipt for one or more TZOKER columns. A single ticket can contain a simple play (one column), several columns, or a wheel system.

TZOKER (Τζόκερ)

The 5/45 + 1/20 lottery game operated by OPAP. Players pick 5 main numbers from 1–45 and 1 Tzoker from 1–20. Draws: Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday at 22:00 Athens time.

Tzoker Extra

An optional add-on offered occasionally by OPAP that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by a random multiplier announced at draw time. Not available on every draw.

W — Terms starting with W

Wager Columns

The total number of columns played across all TZOKER tickets for a single draw. Reported by OPAP and used on tzoker.app to track participation trends per draw.

Wager Tickets

The total number of distinct TZOKER tickets sold for a single draw. A single ticket can hold many columns, so wager_tickets is always lower than wager_columns.

Winning Numbers

The 5 main numbers (1–45) plus the Tzoker (1–20) drawn by OPAP at the official draw. These are the canonical numbers used to evaluate every ticket for that draw.

Withholding Tax

Greek lottery tax deducted from prizes before payout. Brackets: 0% up to €100, 2.5% €100–€500, 5% €500–€2,500, 7.5% €2,500–€1,000,000, 10% above €1,000,000. Calculated per prize tier independently.
